Community Announcements
Welcome to the Grand Canyon Community News Weekly email for February 28th. Our goal is to combine all Grand Canyon area Activities, Events, Meetings, Volunteer Opportunities in one newsletter and send it out weekly - sorry I have been traveling a lot but this is my goal. If you have something to contribute please click the links below.
Tusayan Bus route to begin Friday March 1st and will operate from 8 am - 9:30 pm every 20 minutes. Please encourage guests staying in Tusayan hotels to utilize this free service especially as we enter Spring Breaks.  Visitors must have their park pass prior to boarding the bus.  Passes can be purchased at the Grand Canyon Chamber & Visitor Center located in Tusayan, IMAX fee machine (note their lobby is under construction) or on-line at Your Pass Now.
In case you haven't heard... The Chicken Kitchen is now open!  All Day Eats!  Come on down to Tusayan (you can even ride the bus starting Friday) and get your fried chicken, homemade corned beef hash, biscuits and much much more!
Plaza Bonita is now offering delivery from 11 am - 5 pm...they have a limited delivery menu and you must call 928-525-6868 for delivery.
Grand Canyon School This year's Job Fair will take place on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., in the Grand Canyon School Multi-purpose Room. The goal of the event is to provide an opportunity for Grand Canyon High School students to talk to people from various businesses and organizations in the local community, learn what jobs (paid or volunteer) are available this summer, or even during the school year, and to receive application materials for positions of interest.

Even if you don't currently have any jobs available, please consider attending as this event provides a valuable opportunity for students to learn what different careers are available in the with the National Park Service, the park's concessionaires, and other community businesses.

Additionally, I'm looking for people who can help students with job search, resume writing and interview skills; resume writing workshops for the students are scheduled for March 5, 6, 25, and 26; all will be from 1:50 pm - 4:00 pm., in Room 410. Mock interviews with students will be conducted April 4, from 2:30 pm - 3:45 pm, in the school MPR. If you have any of these skills and would like to share your knowledge with the students, please let me know.

SNAP Program - Do you need help buying food?

We have been working hard to bring a SNAP program to the Grand Canyon area. We hope to have more information soon but if you want to see if you may qualify see below.

Your household must meet certain requirements to be eligible for SNAP and receive benefits. If your State agency determines that you are eligible to receive SNAP benefits, you will receive benefits back to the date you submitted your application.

To see if you might be eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, visit our pre-screening tool.

Note: The FNS SNAP pre-screening eligibility tool is an interactive site with general information about eligibility requirements and how benefits are determined. Sharing your information in that form does not mean you filed an application for benefits. You will still need to submit an application through your State SNAP agency or local SNAP office.
