FROM KCCI: Des Moines T-shirt store Raygun settles deceptive pricing lawsuit. Raygun, a popular T-shirt store in Des Moines, has settled a consumer protection lawsuit filed by the Washington, D.C., group Institute for Truth in Marketing, or ITM, over alleged violations of local law. ITM claimed Raygun tricked customers into thinking they were getting a deal on products by showing inflated "original" prices next to discounted sale prices. FROM AROUND THE STATE: Former Tama County jailer arrested in sexual abuse case involving minor. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation charged a former Tama County jailer Monday on sexual abuse charges involving a minor. Clayton Killian, 21, was arrested and charged with two felony counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor. The investigation began April 25 when a woman reported to the Toledo Police Department that her child had been involved in an inappropriate sexual relationship with an adult man when she was 13 years old. ... READ MORE

1692: First Salem witch hanging. In Salem Village in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, Bridget Bishop, the first colonist to be tried in the Salem witch trials, is hanged after being found guilty of the practice of witchcraft. Trouble in the small Puritan community began in February 1692, when nine-year-old Elizabeth Parris and 11-year-old Abigail Williams, the daughter and niece, respectively, of the Reverend Samuel Parris, began experiencing fits and other mysterious maladies. 1944: Joe Nuxhall makes MLB debut at 15. On June 10, 1944, 15-year-old Joe Nuxhall becomes the youngest person ever to play Major League Baseball when he pitches in a game for the Cincinnati Reds. Nuxhall threw two-thirds of the ninth inning in an 18-0 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals; he was pulled only after one wild pitch and allowing five runs on five walks and two hits.
