“I can picture your father-in-law (Parking, Aug. 13, 2024). Always love starting my day with a good laugh. Thank you.” - Pat
Just be thankful you weren’t parked next to him. - Shane
“My kids all make fun of me for my determination to find a parking spot with shade (Parking, Aug. 13, 2024). One particular smart aleck enthusiastically pointed out a ‘shady’ parking spot that was in the skinny shadow of a light pole!” - Jeannie
Your kids have clearly never burnt the back side of their legs on a vinyl seat in a 1972 Chevy station wagon. - Shane
“I always try to find a parking spot that I can drive out of instead of backing out of for two reasons (Parking, Aug. 13, 2024). First, it is safer for pedestrians, especially kids. My backup camera does not see far enough past the corners. And, second, it is faster to exit from the parking spot.” - George
Aaahh. I see that you are in tune with the Whittemore-style parking (Feb. 14, 2024). I love it. - Shane
“Like most things, not all foods are the same (Summertime foods, Aug. 14, 2024). One size does not fit all! There are lots of brands of hot dogs, a few I love and some I use for dog treats. The same can be said for bratwurst links and even hamburger patties. Love a few types of each but not all. Probably any smoked meat would come in first — sausage, pork, brisket, chicken. This is variable according to skill and experience of the pitmaster. For sides, potato salad, same as or similar to our longtime family recipe. Some BBQ baked beans but not all recipes. Fresh corn on the cob. If I am getting the right choices, I could eat from the above categories every day, all year long!” - Chuck
You are making me hungry, Chuck. I will be over for dinner on Sunday. Hold the onions. - Shane
Have a fantastic Friday, and thanks for reading.

Miracle worker? Starbucks stock value almost immediately recouped the 20% it had lost this year after hiring Brian Niccol away from Chipotle this Tuesday. Chipotle's stock dropped about 10% the same day. So, how is Brian Niccol going to make me think Starbucks isn't overpriced? The coffee and the stock. (Fox Business)
Lobster freak. New England lobsterman Joseph Kramer captured a 1-in-100-million “cotton candy” lobster in July. Lobsters have layers of red, yellow and blue carotenoid pigment that give them their coloring. Often, the combination of these layers looks brown to the human eye. But when genetic mutations cause certain pigments to under or over-express, the result is brightly colored lobsters of several varieties. In addition to the blue and cotton candy-colored creatures, these can include 1-in-10 red lobsters and 1-in-100-million albino lobsters. (Smithsonian) JR's South Pork Ranch at the state fair makes Maine lobster rolls in three sizes.
