Sane People & Martial Artists

There are two kinds of people in today’s culture;

Sane people and martial artists

This can create a bit of a problem when a sane person decides to become a martial artist.

A transition takes place during which the formerly “sane” person tries desperately to cling to the last vestiges of normal, or I should say “perceived normal” from their inner circle.

His or her now fellow martial artists gung ho attitude is slightly bewildering.

Accomplished martial artists display tenacity, focus, determination and above all, discipline. Which comes in handy in everyday life.

To the “innocent” bystander, these qualities may be misinterpreted as aggressive, cocky, or arrogant. However, this isn’t the martial artist’s intention.

Pure and simple self-confidence, which comes with martial arts training, sometimes seems to be other than what it is.

Especially to those that don’t have the discipline or drive to do martial arts or anything else that takes time and dedication.

Let us not forget the non-supportive individuals out there. You all know at least one.

They give you crap, saying it doesn’t matter what you learn, “I’m a bad ass” and can still whoop your ass. Or give you shit about not going out and partying, but instead wanting to train. These are the same people who made fun of you for studying in school instead of being a "rebel".

See where those people are in 5 years or even two. Doing the same shit, making the same foolish mistakes and blaming others for their misfortunes.

Do you have to be a martial artist to be successful?

Of course not.

But the discipline, dedication and focus you'll need to succeed is priceless in everyday life.

But the people who knock it or knock “you” are VERY rarely successful in their own business or personal lives.

Real friends and loved ones will encourage your journey whether it interests them or not.

Until next time, be safe.
