Thank You For Your Support!

Hello, Friends of the Animals!

My name is Heather Allen.  As one of HALO's co-founders, I am proud to say that HALO Animal Rescue is one of the largest no-kill shelters in the Phoenix area, saving thousands of animals each year. This is all thanks to you, our amazing supporters, whose love for animals is so inspiring.

Our focus is saving dogs and cats who, through no fault of their own, are in danger of being euthanized at Valley shelters. We rescue them and make sure they're spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for any medical issues. Then we put them up for adoption so they can find their new forever homes.

The majority of the dogs and cats we save have only a few days or even a few hours left to live... and they have no one else in the world.  Your support allows us to take them into our care.  They get a comfy bed, medical care, and toys.

But most importantly, they get a second chance at happiness.  Without you, they wouldn't get that chance.

There are still so many that we don't yet have the resources to save.  We see them every day.  That's what motivates us to keep doing more and more, working harder, and stretching every dollar.  We will not rest until no savable dog or cat is put down.

We often receive letters from you thanking us for saving the lives of these precious dogs and cats.  These letters warm my heart.  But it's really you, our wonderful supporters, who make our life-saving work possible!

Whether you're an adopter of a pet from HALO, donate much-needed funds to the animals, give your time as a volunteer, or are just an all-around animal lover, thank you for what you do.  We couldn't do it without you.

Happy Holidays!  I wish you all the best!

Rescues Who Touched Our Hearts in 2011

 Sebastian

"Hello, I'm Sebastian!  I was born with a deformity that caused my foot not to form correctly. When I found myself at the county shelter, I went up for adoption because of my great personality, but everyone who walked by looked me over and once they saw my foot, they would choose other dogs over me. I was so sad thinking that I would never find someone to give me a chance.  But then, a miracle happened!  I was saved by two nice ladies from HALO Animal Rescue.  I've taken a trip to the vet, and he says it's best to leave my foot the way it is because I get along just fine.  I'm so glad HALO saw my potential!"

 Eins

"Hello, my name is Eins.  My past is a bit sad, but my future is bright.  Before I found myself here at HALO, my  long pretty fur wasn't brushed often enough, and so it became extremely matted.  It was very uncomfortable to walk around.  When I was little I had eye trauma that no one seemed to notice but me.  Because it went untreated, I only have partial vision in that eye.  But thanks to HALO, now I am groomed and well-taken care of.  They took care of me and found my new owner, who will love me and make sure that I am happy and comfortable."

Bea and Her Pups

"Hello everyone, my name is Bea.  I found myself at Animal Care and Control with my brand new litter of five puppies.  I was very worried because I knew it would take 7-8 weeks in foster care for my babies to grow big enough to be put up for adoption.  There weren't any available fosters who could take in a mom dog and her puppies, so my babies were in danger of being euthanized.  Luckily, HALO found enough space to take us all in.  After my puppies were big enough, I went home with a great family.  Now I am so happy in my new home, and happy that my babies and I got a second chance!"

Zeke

“My name is Zeke.  I was abandoned in a box outside of a store with my brothers and sisters... at only three weeks old.  Luckily HALO took us in, and one of their most dedicated fosters agreed to bottle-feed me and my siblings.   As much as the people at HALO love me and all the little kittens, they also know that there are simply more kittens than there are homes.  That’s why HALO makes sure every animal they adopt out is spayed or neutered.”

'Tis the Season...

Want to support the homeless animals here at the shelter this holiday season?

Well, you have many options!

1.  Contribute to the 2011 Holiday Donation Drive

Please help us help the homeless animals by making a personal holiday gift to HALO's 2011 Holiday Donation Drive.  Our goal is to raise $25,000 (enough funds to spay or neuter a whopping 500 homeless dogs and cats) by December 31st!

2.  Give a Donation as a Holiday Gift

Surely there's an animal lover in your life who would be overjoyed to know that you have chosen to help the homeless animals in their honor!  We will send them a card letting them know about your gift (the donation amount will not be listed).

3.  Send a Toy to a Special Pet

Your gift of $25 or more (which includes shipping) will help the homeless animals in our community as well as brighten the holiday of a special pet. We will send a gift-wrapped toy (for a cat, small dog, or large dog) along with a card letting the pet know you are thinking of them this holiday season.

Please bring sweaters to our shelter on 35th Avenue (5231 N. 35th Avenue in Phoenix) if you can.  These guys will really appreciate it!
